Patterns, molds and tooling for sale.   I will start selling off smaller sections that are not part of the Active/pending sale.  All sale items are subject to change without notice.

CHECK EBAY FOR CURRENT ITEMS THAT ARE BEING AUCTIONED

Quick basic quick rundown of what is in the collection.  I have a lot of patterns, molds, and tooling.  This is best estimate of major items, but there is still a lot more in the collection than what is listed below.

A.      Heavy Mikado patterns and molds.  1 ½” scale and can be built in either 7 ¼ or 7 ½ gauge.  Includes the fiberglass tender mold to make your own fiberglass body tenders.  There are over  70 sand pattern boards, over 55 lost wax molds, and 1 fiberglass tender mold.

B.      90 ton Mikado patterns and molds.  1 ½” scale and can be built in either  7 ¼ or 7 ½ gauge

There are around 29 sand pattern boards and 9 lost wax molds.

C.      Fulton 4-4-0  2 ½” scale and is only designed for 7 ½” gauge.  Around 23 sand pattern boards.

D.      Misc. wheel patterns.   Different types.  1 ½” scale Box pot drivers, spoke wheels, freight wheels, spiral backs, plain backs for tenders and freight cars.  1” scale spiral back and plain back wheel patterns.

Included are the mining car wheel patterns for 4 different size mining wheels.

E.       Accessories:  pressure regulator molds, Nathan water glass mold in both 1” or 1 ½” scale, brake stand mold, 4 different steam whistle chime pattern boards, single & dual stage dummy pumps,  top mount bell and front mount bell molds.  Tender Hand Pump pattern board.  There is a lot of different lost wax molds for small parts (some in hard tooling and others in rubber molds).  Sand cast patterns for the original RR Supply blow downs.  Sand cast pattern for the whistle valve & lost wax mold for the handle.  Locomotive throttle mold (many more products that still need to be added for future business expansion).

F.       Pipe fitting molds. 38 different size pipe fittings.  These are all machined hard tooling injection molds.

G.     3 individual Coupler molds for lost wax style couplers which makes 1” scale, 1 ½” scale and 2 ½” scale sizes.  These are hard tooling machined injection molds.  The 1 ½” and 2 ½” castings were poured in stainless steel.  the  1” scale castings works well in bronze.

H.      One sand pattern for the 1 ½” scale couplers.  These are typically poured in cast iron, but could be poured in red brass or aluminum too.

I.        A lot of misc. lost wax tools, melters, wax welder, ect.

J.        Headlights:  1 ½” national pyle molds (hard tooling).  1”, 1 ½” and 2 ½” Sunbeam  lense molds and side marker molds.

K.      Handrail stantion molds.  1”, 1 ½” and 2 ½” scales.  Most handrail molds are in hard tooling.  A few are in rubber molds.  Around 15 different handrail stantion molds.

L.       Brake shoe molds.  1”, 1 ½” scales in various diameters.  These are in hard tooling molds.  2 pattern boards for cast iron brake shoe rings (parts to the 90 Ton Mikado)

M.    Accumulated patterns from over the years which I still have not had the time to introduce into the product line.  Examples are:  Sand patterns for 1” scale side frame and bolster for freight cars, 1” scale wheels spiral and plain back.  I also have many prototype patterns.  Examples:  a  four wheel trailing truck side frame pattern (future product to utilize the Mikado design and change it over to a 4-8-4 Northern locomotive design).  Different patterns.... wheels, domes, misc. parts for other locomotives, cylinder block patterns, and some of the original Railroad Supply 1 ½” scale freight car side frame patterns (Many of these patterns are the original masters that were hand made from wood).  Bettendorf truck sand patterns to make freight trucks in 1 ½” scale.  I also have the sand pattern and drawings to make the 1 ½” scale arch bar trucks that power model supply use to offer.

N.     Included is an Extrusion die for making 1 ½” scale aluminum track.  This extrusion die is the original one from power model supply.

O.     Includes misc. tooling that assist in the assembly of products.

item # basic description of item
1. power reverse casting kit Original unmachined casting kit with the drawing/instructions for a working power reverse that was sold by the Mercer Locomotive company back in the late 80's. Sold AS-IS.
2. simplex injector Superscale simplex injector- used condition.  It was working before it was removed from the locomotive.   Sold AS-IS
3.  steam diffuser LS MFG steam diffuser used with steam injectors
4. mosely generator body Mosely style generator body from LS MFG.  This is a 'dummy' version, but the same castings were used to make a working one.  Sold AS-IS
5.  Bagely burner Original Bagely burner was one of the most popular oil burners of all time.  this one was in storage for at least 15 years maybe longer.  It's brand new, never used.  Sold AS-IS
6.  Major Beam castings? This is a box of castings and plans for a stationary engine.  Appears to be a Major Beam engine from Coles Power Models.  Castings match to the Coles catalog, but the
prints say 'H A Taylor beam' by Stuart Models.  It appears the only thing missing from set is the Flywheel casting.  There is 7 prints to this model.  Sold AS-IS
coles catalog #26, on page 17.  The 1999 price sheet list was $1010.00 for castings and drawings for Major Beam.
I will knock off some bucks because the fly wheel casting is missing. This can be easily be made from solid material with a little bit of time.
7.  Northern Pilot This appears to be a Little Engines northern pilot casting.  Unmachined casting.  Looks good and cast iron is aged, probably from the little engines from Lomita, CA.
I have know idea if they are available or if these are even made in cast iron anymore.  I'll toss out a price to get it started.  Reasonable offers will be looked at.  Sold AS-IS
8.  1 1/2" scale 4-4-0 pilot Item appears to be a Railroad Supply burbank 1 1/2" scale 4-4-0 pilot, part #C-5062 catalog#9 on page A-7.  unmachined casting.  Reasonable offers will be looked at.  Sold AS-IS
9.  locomotive steps These 3 castings appear to be locomotive steps from superscale, I think it they are 2 boiler steps center and one below-center boiler step.  Sold As-Is.
10.  electrical junction box Superscale junction box casting set.  Sold AS-IS
11. car builders cyclopedia 1949-51 Car builders cyclopedia.  1308 pages.  if you want to build different types of cars, it's in here with the dimensions.  book is good condition, no missing or falling out pages.
Owner of book back in the hayday had signed with pencil on the inside blank page that he was general car foreman in newton, kansas and this was his property.
It was his, currently mine and now it can be yours......  have no idea what this is worth, but I am sure a good condition one is hard to find.
12. Sante Fe book Iron Horses of the Sante Fe trail.  Over 417 pages, with many more additional pages containing locomotive basic dimensions.  says it was Limited edition of #59 of 250.
13.  Oberlin patterns These are 3 pattern boards that make up an Oberlin Steam Pump.  I was told that the pump castings were used conjunction with an issue of Live Steam Magazine.
There is suppose to be an issue that contained the article/drawings to build them. The article ran sometime around the early 1990's.  I don't have live steam magazines from the 1990's to
confirm the story about the Oberlin steam pump article, so it will be the potential buyers job to find the archived article themselves to verify if the story is actually true or not before
buying.  Pattern boards are in good condition and originally came from a business called Ferris Wheel back in 1999.  Sold AS-IS
14. westinghouse pump
            pattern

Pattern board that makes a westinghouse non-working pump.  Maybe with some creativity and engineering, it could be made into a working one.  sold as-is
Assembled parts length is around 7 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide so I think it is used with 1 1/2" scale locomotives.  Probably looks big enough to use with the 2 1/2" scale locomotives too.

15.  drive wheel patterns 2 wood patterns to make 7 3/4" drive wheels.  Crank pin offset/stroke travel center to axle center looks around 2" to 2 1/4".  Sold as-is
16.  switch frog pattern wood pattern for 1 1/2" scale track switch frog.  The switch pattern itself is in good shape.  The main wood board needs to be replaced.
I would recommend making a new mounting board, then transfer the original pattern over to it and it would be as good as new.
This switch frog originally came from a business that had the fireworks accident, that is why the wood has a dark smoke color.  sold as-is
17.  locomotive steps
             pattern
wood pattern for 2 1/2" scale locomotive steps.  sold as is.
18.  unknown pattern #1 no pattern number.  A pattern to make a truck frame.  written on the pattern is says '8 wheels', '6 motors', '2 bolts'.  This was owned by the late Richard Thomas.
It's a pilot truck to a locomotive he was building.  It's a guess, but it may of taken two of these assemblies to make the challenger pilot he was building???
If you can identify what this is for and whoever might need it, tell them they are welcome to buy it.  It was expensive to make this
pattern, so the price I am asking is nothing compared to having it made.   sold as-is
19. wood pattern - details
    challenger wheels
no pattern number.  This pattern came from the late Richard Thomas.  The only information to identify this pattern is:  "detail parts that went on back of challenger wheels."  sold as-is
20.  cylinder half pattern no pattern number.  Appears to be cylinder halfs for 1 1/2" scale locomotive of unknown use. One board that has two different style cylinder halves.
Approx dimensions of cylinder half = 6" wide x 7" tall x 6" thick.  Cores are approx. 2 3/4" dia main
& 1 1/4" dia. valve core.  The Core boxes for these are missing, but can be easily made.
The core spacing between centers is around 3 3/4".  The pattern has west valley written in very faint pencil to help with possible identification.  Pattern needs some work to bring it
back to useful production.  no drawings with this.  it is something you just reverse engineer to find its' use.  Sold As-Is
21.  cylinder half pattern #2 This is a 1 1/2" scale cylinder block half from a company called Model Locomotive Engineering.  Written on the pattern is 2 3/4" x 3 1/2" cylinders with a part# 104 D100.
Unknown what locomotive this cylinder half was used for.  This is a special cylinder half that has the valve ports fully cored.  The main core boxes are in photo.
There one missing core box which is #3. The late Richard Thomas (past IBLS secretary) had these originally, so whoever obtained his estate when he passed away, may actually
have the core box #3 from model locomotive engineering in their stock pile of stuff.  If you find it, you might want to buy the rest of this pattern collection to complete your set.
Otherwise, someone with Autocad skills should be able to input the dimensions to everything, reverse engineer it, piece it together with the program and then figure out
what #3 core box was.  I'm thinking #3 core box was just the empty space for the middle portion of saddle where the exhaust piping comes out. There were drawings for this at one
time from information noted on patterns.  Unknown if these drawings exist anymore.  It appears all the follow-up pieces are there too.  This pattern is one-of-a-kind and could be put
back into production with a little effort and time.  It would be neat to make it available to the locomotive builders again.  Sold AS-IS
22.  4 wheel trailing truck
             pattern
This appears to be a 4 wheel trailing truck pattern set for a challenger 4-8-8-4.  It was previously owned by the late Richard Thomas.  This is a work of engineering to figure this out.
Includes the core box.  approx 23" long.  each side is split in half so it can be mounted to a board to create a fixed pattern, or if your foundry is good, they should
be able to make these as a 'one off's' or 'loose pattern'.  The main cross braces that attach in the front and rear appear to get welded together to complete the finished frame.
There may be more patterns that attach to this, so as I dig through the boxes, I'll add the extras' if I find anything.    Sold As-Is.
wood pattern 1 1/2" scale wood pattern.  It appears to be an inside spreader/tailpiece wood pattern to the challenger locomotive.
Design seems to be similiar in nature and appears to go along with the 4 wheel trailing truck pattern being offered elswhere in this collection.
approx. box dimensions 10 3/4" L x 6 1/2" W x 2 3/4" H    I am including this with the 4 wheel trailing truck.
23.  Master pattern - wheel This is a very nice master pattern for a wheel.  You make your copies from this master for your pattern board set-up.  Made from Aluminum so it will last forever.
This is one heck of a nice freight wheel to put into production for a business. I'm pretty sure it was intended for 2 1/2" scale.  It would be one of the most
detailed wheels on the market. Basic size 5.65" tire diameter, 6.25" flange diameter, x 1.22" total thickness.  Has Griffith Denver on front side & spiral on back.  Sold As-Is
24.  wood brake shoe
         patterns
An handfull of loose 1 1/2" scale wood brake shoe patterns for the backyard do-it-yourself foundry.  Sold AS-IS
25.  wood pattern - wheel  1 1/2" scale loose wood wheel pattern. CPR 4.5" OD tire, 4.84" OD flange, .92" Thick. Dished back side. Sold AS-IS
26.  wood pattern - wheel 1 1/2" scale loose wood wheel pattern. 4.39" OD tire, 4.83" flange OD, .98" thick.  Flat back.  Crawford 10/29/68   Sold AS-IS
27.  wood pattern - wheel 1 1/2" scale loose wood drive wheel pattern.  8 5/8" dia. tire, tire thickness .68", 8 7/8" dia.flange, stroke 1.60" axle center to the crank center.  Converts from a heavy counterweight
to a light counterweight by removing the insert between spokes.  Interesting pattern.  Sold As-Is
28.  wood pattern- domes 1 1/2" scale loose wood steam and sand dome patterns.  4 1/2" OD sand dome.  4.57" OD steam dome. 5 separate patterns. sold AS-IS
29.    wood pattern-
        dummy coupler
1 1/2" scale loose wood pattern - dummy coupler split pattern.  It's an oldie and probably one of those patterns that were made before hobby suppliers existed.
If you have your own backyard foundry and want to have fun making dummy couplers, then this pattern is perfect for you.
30.  wood pattern- wheel 1 1/2" scale loose wood wheel pattern.  4.17" OD tire, 4.53" OD flange, x .94" thick, flat back.  sold AS-IS
31.  wood pattern- wheel 1 1/2" scale loose wood wheel pattern.  4 3/8" OD tire, 4 3/4" OD flange, x 1" thick, spoked pilot wheel.  sold AS-IS
32.  wood pattern- caps 1 1/2" scale loose wood patterns for main cylinder caps.  see the photo for approx. dimensions.  4 piece group set.  sold As-Is
33. wood pattern- tender 1 1/2" scale loose wood patterns for front and rear tender sills.  see the photos for approximate dimensions.  2 piece set.  sold AS-IS
34.   60+ wood patterns-
      2-6-2 locomotive
1 1/2" scale loose wood patterns for an unknown 2-6-2 locomotive.  There are two boxes of miscellaneous loose patterns from the late
Richard Thomas (IBLS secretary).  There are approx. 60+ patterns ranging from braking, pilot, frame components, crosshead, cylinder block and other important items.
This is one of those fun projects that you can spend some time figuring out where everything went.  If someone has the drawings of a 2-6-2 from Richard Thomas, there is a good
chance these are the patterns that went with that project.  Someone put a lot of work into making these patterns. I would like to see them go to someone who wants to
spend the time figuring out this 2-6-2 design and bring it back to life.  If you have autocad skills, you could probably put this together on paper and figure out what is missing.
It appears there is enough items here to make a frame structure/chassis with spring rigging, brake system, valve gear supports, and pilot/trailing structure.  Wheels would need to
be figured out to get a rolling chassis going.  Includes delta trailing truck patterns for the 2-6-2 locomotive, 6 loose patterns to make a trailing truck frame.

Sold As-Is.

Please note:  Most of the patterns are marked 2-6-2, but I have know idea if some of the patterns are for a different project or maybe tender components.
Otherwise, all the patterns in photo came out of the same two boxes that Richard Thomas handed to me that were marked 2-6-2.
Also, one pattern is broken (brake hanger pattern), but all the pieces are there to glue back together. Siderail & tailpiece one piece loose pattern will be included,
it appears that this may be related to this project. There are some pieces that are broken, but can glued back together.

I also have more wheel patterns that are going to be listed. Two of the drive wheels are potential matches to this project.  The stroke length matches the cylinder size, but unknown
if wheel diameter is the correct size for a 2-6-2 locomotive.  That is something the buyer would need to check on is the wheel diameter of a typical 2-6-2 so we can see
if those patterns would work with this locomotive.
35.  wood pattern -
      4-6-6-4 cylinder block
This pattern is from the late Richard Thomas (IBLS secretary).  This is a 4-6-6-4 cylinder block pattern from his collection. If I were to take a wild guess, whoever obtained the
remainder collection of patterns from the late Richard Thomas estate, has all the patterns to a 4-6-6-4 locomotive, but no cylinder block pattern to go with them.  It would be
very beneficial for the individual who aquired the Richard Thomas pattern collection to buy the  4-6-6-4 cylinder block to complete their entire collection of components.
Core box for the valve, but no core box for the main cylinder.  That was not included. Whoever has the Richard Thomas collection may have it.
36.  wood patterns -
      cylinder liners
There are 3 cylinder liner loose wood patterns.  The core boxes were not included with these and are missing.  These came from the late Richard Thomas collection.  Chances are,
the individual who has the Richard Thomas collection has the core boxes, the cylinder patterns, but no cylinder liners to go with them.  Do you need them?  Sold As-Is.
37. wood pattern - wheel This is a freight car wheel pattern.  1 1/2" scale spiral back.  Pattern was in a box named Durkee. 4.52" OD. see photo for dimensions.  sold AS-IS
38. wood pattern - wheel This is a freight car wheel pattern.  1 1/2" scale spiral back.  Pattern was in a box named Durkee. 3.71" OD.  see photo for dimensions.  sold AS-IS
39. wood pattern This appears to be an axle eccentric loose wood pattern.  probably for 1 1/2" scale.  Pattern has Durkee on it.  see photo for dimensions.  sold AS-IS
40.  wood patterns 3 wood patterns for journal boxes.  One appears to be 1" scale and two others 1 1/2" scale.  Patterns were from a box named Durkee.  Spilt halves and pinned on all three patterns.
Someone spent some time making these by hand.  They don't stand up well in photos so it was a little hard to get a good picture.  Sold AS-IS.
41.  wood pattern - rod Wood pattern for main drive rod.  looks like 1 1/2" scale.  pattern split in middle, pinned and ready for mounting to a board.  see photo for dimensions.  Sold As-Is
42. wood pattern - pilot loose wood pattern that was being made for a pilot/pilot beam assembly for possibly a Challenger or Cab forward? appears to be 1 1/2" scale.
Pattern has some damage in parts of wood, but can be restored.  Some seperation of bottom parting lines need to be re-glued.  Core box still needs to be made.
This would be an interesting project to finish out.  Best to make a permanent mount version on a board for production use.  Otherwise, it's a great start to a pilot if
someone wants to finish this one out.  Both patterns in photo included.  The little pattern is suppose to make the cover that fits the coupler pocket opening on large pattern.
This was previously owned by the late Richard Thomas so it might be a pilot that was used on one of his locomotives originally.  Sold As-is.
43.  wood pattern - rod wood pattern for a USRA 0-6-0 rod.  probably originally a prototype from RRSC burbank since it was mixed in with some of the other RRSC heavy mikado masters.
44. master pattern-car part 2 different hat sections.  These could be used as masters to make the duplicates to put on a production pattern board.  These were found along with the
heavy mikado master patterns.  They may of been prototypes from RRSC burbank that were being worked on, but were never released into production.
Both in photo included together.  Sold As-Is.
45.  wood patterns- wheels 2 different wood driver patterns from RRSC burbank.  These are master prototypes never put into production or not shown in catalog.  Part#C-7069 written on one of the patterns.
9.54" OD at largest point, thickness .86" to .87", inside crank/axle center is approx 2.20" x 3.34".  Sold As-is.  Both included in same price.
item below this is included with this purchase.
aluminum patterns 2 sets of each of the #45 wheel shown above. Aluminum castings to make a master pattern board with.  These are unfinished castings of the original #45 patterns.
You finish machining the back flat, and polish up the surface, mount to an Aluminum plate and you have a Master Aluminum production board to last many lifetimes of making castings
at the foundry.  Sold As-Is.  This will be sold with #45  above.
46.  wood pattern wheels 2 different wood driver patterns from RRSC burbank.  These are master prototypes never put into production or not shown in catalog.  Part#B-7056 written on one of the patterns.
8 1/4" OD tapering down to 7 3/4"OD, thickness .85" to .86", inside crank/axle center is approx 2 3/4" x 1.78".  Sold As-is.  Both included in same price.
47.  wood pattern wheel Wood pattern, spilt two sides, drive wheel 7 5/8".  Actual dimensions 7 3/4" tire x 8 1/4" flange x 1.11" thick x 2" stroke for crankpin.  Sold As-Is
48.  wood pattern wheel Wood pattern, spilt two sides, drive wheel 8".  Actual dimensions 8" tire x 8 1/2" flange x 1.14" thick x 1 7/8" stroke for crankpin. pattern needs fixing.  Sold As-Is
49. wood pattern - beam 2 1/2" scale loose wood pattern for a front pilot beam with pole pockets.  Measures 17 3/4" long, 2 1/2" tall at coupler mount, 1 1/2" wide at coupler mount.  Sold As-Is
50. master patterns -
     angled check valve
5/16" angled check valve master patterns originally from 'Weston'.  These are the masters used to make duplicate rubber molds for the lost wax injection process.
Both items included.  Sold As-Is
51.  master pattern -
       brake wheel
6.16" diameter brake wheel.  Not sure what scale this is, but it was in the RRSC burbank master pattern box.  It may of been a brake wheel used on their park locomotives they
use to operate at Travel Town or Los Feliz Drive next to the pony rides in Los Angeles, CA.  This was hand cut from plastic and glued together.  Someone spent a lot of time
working on this.   If you have a use for a very large brake wheel, this one is available.    Sold AS-IS.
52. master pattern-
 CP173 smokebox front
This is the original wood master pattern for the CP173 smokebox front from RRSC burbank, CA.  1 1/2" scale 4-4-0 locomotive.  6 3/8" diameter.
See catalog #9, page A-8 section 8  part# B-5130.  Sold AS-IS.
53.  master pattern-
        brake stand
1 1/2" scale wood pattern.  This is the original wood pattern that was used to make the brake stand body.  see RRSC burbank Catalog#9 on page E-2.  Height = 1.90".  sold as-is
54.  plastic domes/lenses Box full of plastic dome lenses that were from the original RRSC burbank.  Most were probably used with the diesels.
Diameter sizes include 2", 1 3/4", 1 1/2", 1 1/4", 1 1/8", 1", 7/8", 3/4", 9/16", 5/8", 7/16", 3/8"
Total box count is Qty 25 of the various sizes.  Sold as a box group (eveything seen in photo).  sold as-is
55.  diesel parts???? these two items appears to be 1 1/2" scale plastic diesel exhaust fans housing covers.  These came from the storage boxes of the old RRSC Burbank.
Could be prototypes since they came out of the box marked Master.  Includes both of them in photos.  see photo for dimensions.  sold as-is
56.  Adlake etching plate? Appears to be the master etched plate to make the lettering for the marker lamp top from RRSC burbank.  It is a metal plate.  If you have any use for it, you're welcome to buy it.
57. unknown casting step This appears to be a 2 1/2" scale step? unknown aluminum cast step for a car/tender. maybe it was a conway locomotive step? sold as-is
58.  various pullman
      castings
More items from the late Richard Thomas (IBLS past secretary) collection.     These are various castings that were for the RRSC burbank Pullman car.
