Just some photos of interest to share.

Chet Petersen running the first Heavy Mikado built on May 31st 1982 Spring meet at Los Angeles Live Steamers.   Yes, the Heavy Mikado is almost 30 Years old.

Photo of the Heavy Mikado rolling off the steaming bay at the LALS club spring meet May 31st, 1982

Chet Petersen (left), Ken Prather (middle), Harry Haas (right)   Another Heavy Mikado being tested that rolled off the assembly line back in the early days.

This back drop located at the LALS club can also be seen in the 1986 Movie 'Night Train to Kathmandu'   During the filming, a group of club members
lost control of the Clubs Steam locomotive.  The Steam locomotive went speeding around the track (with no engineer) and crashed inside the tunnel that went under
the Horse Trail.  The movie producer then paid out $7000.00 cash to compensate for the damage to the locomotive.  That afternoon, I received a phone call
asking me to run my Heavy Mikado to finish out the rest of the movie scenes.  If you ever watch the beginning of the movie, you will notice that the
locomotive goes from a 2-6-0 to a 2-8-2 Heavy Mikado.   Just a little story to share.

Photo of Heavy Mikado Seymore Johnson's private railroad (no longer exists).  He was the creator of the Sears Die Hard Battery.

Another photo of the first Heavy Mikado at Seymore Johnson's private railroad.
The railroad was located just below Santa Barbara and overlooked the Ocean.

Dan Riffe at the throttle of Heavy Mikado Engine no. 9720.  I think this photo was taken at the Johnson's Railroad.

This is the inside of the shop where the Original Heavy Mikado was created in Burbank, CA.
Chet Petersen is seen in his office in the Upper left corner.
This was the very first Heavy Mikado that rolled off the assembly line seen in these photos.

Some more photos of the Heavy Mikado at the Los Angeles Live Steamers located in Griffith Park.   Many changes and additions
have occurred since these photos were taken.  Some of these shots may look familiar.  In the Movie titled 'The Jerk' with Steve Martin,
Steve Martin can be seen on the club's locomotive rounding the bend in the same two lower right backdrops.

Maricopa Live Steamers located in Arizona in the early start up days.

This was a beautiful B&O Heavy Mikado built around 1988.  A few years later, it was destroyed in a Barn fire.

This group photo is taken at a LALS spring meet.  These group of guys were master machinists who dedicated themselves to our hobby.
(Left side is Ross Crawford, Upper left (I think is Doug Alkire), in the middle is Bob Calender and Dick Priest and to the right is Bob Julyan)

Dick Priest's Large Scale locomotive.  Richard enjoyed operating the locomotive on his property in Oregon and Seymore Johnson's track in Santa Barbara.
Two people could sit in the Tender.  I think this locomotive has since been sold to an Amusement park in Southern California.

Just some interesting photos of the past that I wanted to share with the hobbyist.
