The Fulton is a 2 1/2" scale Steam Locomotive model based from a Baldwin design from the 1870's era.  
The design of this model is to help keep costs down and allow builders with a minimum of shop equipment to complete the locomotive.
The machining of the locomotive wheels require at least a 9" lathe to turn the wheels.  Otherwise, a 10" lathe and small Drill/Mill was used to complete the locomotive machining.
The rough castings in the kit are the major components that help save on builder fabrication time.  The rest of the locomotive is fabricated from bar stock, sheet metal and wood.
The materials are easily obtained from local supply sources or online catalog suppliers.

   Cab is simply constructed of Wood with clear coat finish to bring out grain.                  
   
Headlight is a casting set, assembled and attached to base plate.                                       Cow Catcher is a one piece casting bolted to wood pilot beam.
     
                Lots of room in Cab to work around in.                                                           Tender trucks are a heavy duty Arch bar design with castings for journal boxes.

     
Tender Tank is fabricated sheet metal riveted.  Front and rear sills are Wood.                    
     
Large Cylinders give that added power.  Having the 4 piece cylinder design allows machining on smaller milling machines such as a Mill/Drill.
